Double Exposure Pillow - #1

Description

Our third collection of Raw Silk Pillows is named after the dying process of shibori, where each creamy soft silk front is hand folded and knotted then dyed twice.  Resulting in a layering of colors and shapes.

20” x 20” 100% raw silk sham with cotton lining and invisible zipper. Includes plush 90% duck feather / 10% down insert. Acid dyes are used, ensuring that the dye is bonded to the natural fibers and will not fade.

Our Dye

We use fiber reactive procion dyes. These are the most permanent of all dye types. Unlike other dyes, fiber reactive dye actually forms a covalent bond with the cellulose protein (in our case, linen) molecule. Once the bond is formed, you have a single molecule as the dye molecule has become an actual part of the cellulose fiber molecule. And there’s your science lesson for the day! Because of this molecular bond, the colors won’t bleed or fade.

Our Zippers

Premium YKK metal zippers are used for the closure of our pillows. Rather than fussing with hidden zippers that tend to be made of cheap plastic and are notoriously difficult to open and close, we’ve chosen to feature a high-quality zipper that matches the quality of the rest of the pillow. Incorporated linen zipper coverings at the front and back of the zipper provide added durability and a clean look. With these details, you know you’re getting an exquisite piece that is built to last.

Made by Hand

All of our fabric cutting, dyeing, and sewing is done by hand. The finished products are true works of art, made with care, by human hands. As automation becomes evermore prevalent, we’re proud to keep true craftsmanship alive!
